Prophecy and Parables

Matthew 13:34  All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a parable. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet:n“I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”

A parable literally means to throw or place beside something. Parables are real life pictures placed along side spiritual realities. They are representative stories about the kingdom, the king, the kingdom’s people, and the kingdom’s future. Matthew, Mark, and Luke record the parables for us to savor in their gospel accounts
